"Maybe it's not a fear of the unknown but a fear of the known coming to an end." -Dr. Jamie Zuckerman We feel comfortable in what we are used to. Without familiarity, we overthink and it's usually worst-case scenario thinking. When stages of our life end and lead to new beginnings, we are forced to change our situation and habits in order to adjust. The upcoming stages of our life aren't as scary as we make them out to be. In reality, after leaving our comfort zone, we create the most positive changes and allow self-reflection. The more uncomfortable we make ourselves, the more likely we are to reach our goals. Fear is inevitable even for the bravest people. We can...

Tool for improving speech abilities

From personal experience, in order to improve your speaking fluency and pronunciation, you need to hear your own voice. We are accustomed to our own voice, yet we can’t actually hear exactly what we sound like to other people. Even when practicing speech exercises, I couldn’t understand what I was doing wrong because I sounded the same to myself. When we can truly hear our own voice, we can pinpoint the areas that need to be improved.  In order to hear your own voice, rather than recording yourself and playing it back, you need a tool that allows you to talk and listen simultaneously. My elementary school speech pathologist advised me to get a PVC elbow tube pipe and use it...

How to workout consistently

Consistency is needed if you want to accomplish your goals. “Without commitment, you will never start. Without consistency, you will never finish.”  Working out is often difficult because progress is delayed and timely. We often want instant results and give up if we don’t see any. For me, I started working out to not only keep myself healthy, but because it was a stress reliever. I wanted to make working out enjoyable, not a chore. To me, the hardest part of working out is the process of getting myself ready and to the gym. To make this easier, I prepare my clothes out on my desk. When my gym gear is visible, I am more likely to accomplish my workout. Make...

How to organize your life.

I have recently come to the conclusion that stress is not stressful if you have a plan. Basically, you are always going to have stressful situations in life and deadlines, but if you are organized and don't wait for the last possible second to get work down, you avoid the worst part of stress. I have so much going on in my life right now from starting school again, class president duties, homework, student gov. responsibilities, online college classes, applying to colleges and scholarships, work...

Welcome to The Real World

During the COVID pandemic, I really got into working on myself and prioritizing a happy and healthy lifestyle. I started posting daily quotes on my Snapchat private story for over 400 days. But only 20 people were seeing my daily posts and most of them were just skipping through them. So basically I was posting my deep thoughts and revelations to myself. I know I’m young and haven’t experienced much, but I’m certain what I have is important to share with more than 20 inactive people.  This website has posts of inspiration, my favorite workouts, shopping finds, and recommendations that I truly swear by. I want this website to be the source for my daily reflections and gratitude that connect people...

"You don't have to control your thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you." -Dan Millman We can’t choose the way we think, but that doesn’t mean we should feel guilty about this. We forget that as a person we can still communicate with ourselves and self-reflect on what we want from life. This gives us clarity in our thoughts. Every day you will have thousands of thoughts all jumbling around in your head. What matters most is which thoughts you give attention and power to. By redefining your perspective and opening your POV, you are able to take control of your thoughts. A great book called “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz changed my perspective on how...

The Feeling of Public Speaking is a Roller Coaster

Speaking in front of people is an important skill that is used in relationships and careers. Many people become anxious and stutter when presenting. This feeling is normal. I am a confident speaker and enjoy presenting, yet every time before, I get that nervous pit in my stomach, and my palms get sweaty.  Think of public speaking as a roller coaster. Before you get to the highest point, you anticipate the rest of the ride. You let your mind overpower and all of your thoughts get jumbled together. When you’re on a roller coaster, most people don’t scream on the way up. The screaming takes place on the drop-down. On the ride up, all of your fear and emotions are locked...
