Moving Forward…

We don’t learn our lessons until we are forced to. We don't listen to what we know is right until we have to. We don’t let others go until we are the ones let go. We wait… even though we knew all along. We can be confident, strong, and smart individuals while also ignoring the obvious answers. We can't feel guilty over this “self-sabotage” because sometimes this is what it takes for us to learn and grow. We can hear other people's advice but it's only until we are ready to act upon it ourselves that we actually listen to it. I learned a lot in 2022. I discovered that people won’t change because of you. The reason why we keep...

I think that…

Ignorance can be bliss for short-term happiness Communication isn't helpful without comprehension There is always time for what we want Awareness of your surrounding environment and people is necessary   We should try to not take things personally  People express the same emotion differently  People don’t change Judging is inevitable  Consistency is harder than motivation The “bare minimum” doesn’t exist; it’s normalized today People are sensitive Sharing your opinions is dangerous  Cancel culture is so immature  It’s easy to be influenced  We let people hurt us because the pain without them hurts more Time goes by fast no matter if you’re having fun Our patience varies based on the person We speak before we educate We pretend to care about a topic if it’s trending No matter how much sleep, everyone's tired Money controls our life We complain too much  Excuses are...

Update

Reminiscing evokes different emotions for everyone. Just reading that word could’ve brought you back to something from your past that quickly. I’ve been reminiscing lately because life went from continuous wins and successes to unfortunate losses. My pre-college life was so different; I was class president, well-known by students and teachers, top of the class, and submerged in extracurriculars and opportunities. The flow of wins made me so hopeful. Since coming to college, it’s been hard to feel known or unique. I was surrounded by familiarity and routine for so long. At first, the transition to college was so fun and easy because I loved the independence. Unfortunately, it became another routine, one that didn’t live up to my expectations....

This I believe

The question, “What do you want to be when you're older?” is asked in Kindergarten. I’ve been asked what I hope to accomplish, where I want to live, or simply which restaurant I want to eat at. Question after question requires constant decision-making. I’d like to say I’m a decisive individual, but as I begin my transition into college, I’ve faced questions I can’t provide an answer to. I feel as though career decision-making is overrated and over-pressured, as it forces a set-in-stone mindset; I almost feel guilty for flipping back and forth between decisions. My major, career path, social involvements, and club and class interests contain decisions that are made to change, yet I feel held down to make...

Dealing With Change

Change is inevitable. Sometimes it can be in our favor, sometimes it is against us. It may be cliche to say, but it’s the things and people in our life that change that will ultimately guide us to who we are and where we want to be. Change is required for growth because it uncovers our strengths and weaknesses. Change can inspire us. We can ignore change. But then we are living in a new world with an outdated mindset, only making it harder to reach our potential. In order to move forward in life, we can’t re-open past events or reconnect with the people we swore we’d move on from. We must focus on progression as opposed to regression....

2022. My Thoughts So Far…

Growth is an endless process. There is always room for improvement. This 2022, I have realized that I need to change my mindset and be open to new possibilities. It has only been 17 days of the new year, but here are some life-changing lessons I have already learned.  “Life doesn’t happen to you, it happens for you.” - Tony Robbin. Remember, life gives us what we need to succeed and if we fail, we fail in order to become stronger. There is no need to complain about bad luck or a lack of success because we are in control of our life, leaving no one to blame. Sitting around and letting things happen TO you can be compared to giving...

Happiness TedTalk

https://www.ted.com/talks/dominic_price_what_s_your_happiness_score Discovering what makes one happy is a challenging task. After listening to Mr. Price’s realizations that happiness is “not contextual,” I have recognized that we must be proactive in order to reach happiness. We often wait for a future event to make us happy and then when the event occurs, we are still left unsatisfied; this creates a constant cycle of unhappiness. Mr. Price explained that we can not “put all of our eggs in one basket,” meaning we can not rely on a single person/event to supply us with a happy mentality.  Instead of being reactive, we can take charge in the present in hopes of a fulfilling life. When we are unhappy, we are unproductive. I’m aware that...

Learning through others’ experiences

Books. Some people love them, some never open them. I have mixed emotions when it comes to reading. In school, we are forced to read different genres and classics of literature. People say books are a way for one to escape or fantasize about a completely different world. However, I feel like I don’t always want to feel the need to escape. I’d rather learn how to make my world so enjoyable that I choose it over a fantasy. That’s why my favorite books are self-help books. These books allow me to take advice from more experienced people who have created the mindsets and habits I hope to create myself. These self-help and motivational books are a way for me...
